Writer's Story
I joined Facebook in 2005 when it was just for college students (or in my case--college ministers who happened to have a university email address). There were 3 observations that I made immediately:
1. I saw how students poured their heart and soul out over the internet to their peers. I found that I developed relationships with students on a deeper level if I also had a relationship with them online. Many times, the Facebook relationship prompted the actual face-to-face relationship.
2. I also noticed how much time they spent on it--hours and hours they'd spend just reading it, and why? Because it was there. It was in front of their eyes when they opened their laptops (and now smart phones).
3. I noticed that there is a lot of junk out there. Obviously, the pornographic junk, but also an array of philosophy, mantra, opinions, you name it. It can be overwhelming, and also very distracting and detracting from your moral compass, principles, and definitely Biblical scripture.
So that's when I decided to jump in with both feet. The internet is a virtual community, and like any community, it needs people who reflect Christ's love. In 2008, I started a little blog. I shared the day-to-day in the traditional way, but in over a decade, this space has morphed into so much more! It's grown as I have grown and has become a forum which sparks conversations in my life with people of all ages and stages. It has begun relationships, deepened relationships, and literally traveled the world!
You should know that I have no interest in painting myself picture-perfect or gaining internet fame. I don't place ads for money, and I don't spend my time with link ups for profit. Everything that you read is 100% genuine from my heart to yours.
